Boycott double edge razor blades from Russia

Boycot double edge scheermesjes uit Rusland - Manandshaving

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the call to boycott Russian products has become increasingly louder. Of course, it primarily concerns natural gas and oil. But there are also many 'small' consumer items that are produced in Russia. There is a large razor blade factory in St. Petersburg, Russia: ZAO Petersburg Products International. Gillette partly owns this production facility. Gillette may also be trying to distance itself from this factory. Razor blades for the safety razor are produced every day in this factory. This mainly concerns the double edge razor blades from the Gillette brand and under license for other brands. These shaving items are sold worldwide. Moscow also has a large razor blade factory, namely JSC Mostochlegmash. Various brands are also produced here under license.

As far as we know, the following brands are produced in these factories:

  • Astra Stainless
  • GSB
  • Gillette Platinum
  • Nacet
  • 7 O'clock yellow
  • Permasharp
  • Gillette Ruby
  • Sputnik
  • Polsilver
  • Voskod
  • Rapira

We do not judge and we can imagine that you would like to continue shaving with your favorite razor. The choice of whether or not to use these brands is of course personal. But we have decided to stop selling these 'Russian' brands for the time being. We recently took these blades offline and they are no longer shown in the webshop. We are aware that it is a very small and modest act of 'resistance'. We also call on other retailers to stop selling Russian razor blades.
