Mühle's shaving culture is traditional and innovative craftsmanship
Muhle was founded in 1945 by Otto Johannes Müller in Stützengrün, Germany, just after the Second World War. Otto started producing shaving brushes and razors at the proverbial kitchen table. The third generation of Müller is now at the helm of one of the market leaders in the field of luxury shaving products. The range consists of different product lines. All ranges consist of safety razors , razor holders for the Gillette Mach3 and Fusion razors , shaving brushes , complete shaving sets and the associated shaving bowls and holders.
Design range PURIST
The design of the Purist range is classic and elegant. Characteristic are the gentle and austere round shapes and wide necks of the handles of the shaving brushes and razors. The shaving kit feels robust in the hand.
The basic material of Muhle PURIST
Many shaving products are made of chrome-plated metal. Chrome has a beautiful seductive shine. Pure luxury in the bathroom. It is corrosion resistant and very durable. The colors and shapes of other high-quality materials really come into their own with chrome.
High-quality plastic resin is a durable and hard plastic. It is ideal for exclusive bathroom items. The handles of razors and shaving brushes are turned from solid round bars. Each individual handle is then polished in several passes to give the surface its special luxurious shine. This ensures that the handles remain beautiful for years to come.
The precious and beautiful Masur birch wood is widely used for decorative purposes. The wood has a light sandy yellow color with a beautiful fine and irregular grain. The Masur birch is common in Finland. Special treatments and coating make the wood water-repellent and wear-resistant.
The Bruyère wood is often used for tobacco pipes. The wood comes from the Erica arborea tree from the Mediterranean region. The wood is first boiled. Only then is it suitable for editing. This also gives it its beautiful reddish to brown color. The best wood is selected, shaped, colored by hand, then waxed and finally polished.
Design range KOSMO
The KOSMO shaving items have a modern, sleek, contemporary and elegant design. The simple shaving items are made of chrome-plated metal, plastic resin, olive wood and bog wood.
The basic material of Muhle KOSMO
Olive wood is valued for its excellent durable material properties and warm colors. It is found throughout the Mediterranean region. The wood has a light honey yellow color with light brown parallel grain lines. The wood is carefully dried for months before the handles are turned. The handles are then sanded smooth, impregnated with oil and polished super smooth to a silky soft finish. This makes the grain of the wood stand out particularly well.
Bogwood or Pin oak is special and rare. This material comes from wood that has lain in swamps for centuries and has therefore undergone various change processes. This makes the wood naturally preserved. The tannins in the swamp peat create an expressive dark color. The color of the wood varies between brown, dark brown and black-brown. It has a very fine, dense grain structure.
Square beams are sawn from the few usable trunk parts. The handles are then turned and polished with various fine oils. This gives the material a silk matt finish.
Design range RYTMO
The RYTMO series has a striking, unique and timeless design. The handles have a slightly conical shape with a striking and robust chrome-plated base. All razors and shaving brushes hang upside down on this foot in the corresponding holder. The fit of the holder's eyes ensures that the shaving kit can hang perfectly in the holder. The basic materials are plastic resin, chrome-plated metal and ash wood.
The basic material of Muhle RYTMO
Ash is one of the most important European hardwood species, alongside beech and oak. It grows mainly in northern regions. The ash wood is first briefly heated to a very high temperature. This makes it water resistant, accentuates the grain and gives the wood its brown color. The surface is then treated with oil. This means the wood is perfectly protected against water and will last a very long time.
The RYTMO range also has shaving kits made of chrome-plated metal and plastic resin. The shiny black plastic gives these shaving brushes and razors a modern, sleek and luxurious look.
Design range ROCCA
The design of the ROCCA series is simple, robust and particularly masculine. It is one of Muhle's most striking ranges. It has a modern and contemporary design: a feast for the eyes. The weight and structure of the materials provide a comfortable hold during use. ROCCA means castle or fortress in Italian.
The honeycomb-like structure in the stainless steel and black plastic of the handles is very striking. Important features are the beautiful line and grain structures of the birch bark wood. This honeycomb-like structure and the birch bark wood make the material very comfortable to hold. You have optimal grip while shaving.
Basic material from Muhle ROCCA
The birch bark wood has dark sandy yellow and light brown color accents. The wood has a very fine horizontal line and grain structure. It feels warm and comfortable. Naturally, the material has been treated, making it water-resistant and easy to maintain.
The big advantage of stainless steel is that it does not rust. The material becomes slightly matted. This gives it a nice light matte shine. The metal also feels soft and comfortable in the hand. The combination of the matted metal, plastic or birch bark wood creates an elegant and intriguing effect.
Design range TRADITIONAL
The safety razors of the TRADITIONAL series are now sold worldwide. Many men stand in front of the mirror early in the morning with their R89 safety razor in their hand. These knives either have an open tooth comb or closed comb. All double edge razor blades fit in these razors. Due to the comb structure of the open tooth comb shaving head and the special angle of the double edge blade, this razor shaves very directly and efficiently. The safety razor with the closed comb is gentler. It provides a perfectly smooth and very comfortable shave. The closed comb is slightly more popular than the open tooth comb. The open tooth comb is highly sought after by the more experienced wet shaver with coarse or heavy beard growth.
The chrome-plated metal handles of these razors and the accompanying shaving brushes have a unique fine herringbone-like structure. This gives you optimal grip while shaving.
The total length of the razor is 9.4 cm and the weight is approximately 70 grams. The shaving heads consist of 2 parts and are attached to the handle with thread. The R89 GRANDE has a slightly longer and more robust handle. The R89 TWIST has a different shaving head. With this razor, the lower half of the shaving head is welded to the handle. The top half is secured with thread. You can easily loosen and tighten the shaving head using a metal knob at the bottom of the handle.
The handle of the shaving brushes has a traditional simple round design. The design, chromed metal and the grip correspond exactly to the handle of the razors. You can hang the shaving kit in various associated holders.

The handles are made of chrome-plated metal and plastic resin. The so-called Rose Gold chrome is striking. Rose Gold has a golden pink matte metallic sheen.
Design series SOPHIST
SOPHIST is full of character, elegant and classic. The design symbolizes traditional shaving culture. It is a harmonious combination of classic shapes and top quality. The handles have solid round or convex shapes. The shaving brushes have a round, sturdy flat 'foot' made of chrome-plated metal at the bottom. The razors have a small 'foot' at the bottom and an elegant 'neck' at the top. The shaving brush hangs upside down from the base in the holder. The razors hang with their 'neck' in the eye of the holder.
The basic material of Muhle SOPHIST
In addition to the commonly used chrome and plastic resin, the handles of this line contain ironwood and porcelain. Ironwood is one of the hardest woods in the world. The extremely high density makes it very water resistant. The dark brown color in combination with the fine grain provides a silky soft and shiny appearance. Due to the variations in the color and grain of the wood, each handle is a unique piece of artisan craftsmanship.
Beef or buffalo horn has been used since ancient times to make utility or decorative objects. The natural material is selected and processed with great care and precision. Only solid horn tips are used for the handles of shaving brushes and razors. The raw material is turned into the correct shape step by step. It is then sanded smooth and polished to a high gloss. The horn has a soft flamed color shade from light to dark brown. Each product has its own unique character.
Porcelain was invented a long time ago in the ancient Chinese empire. It was not produced in Europe until 1708. Each porcelain object is made by hand and then glazed and fired. Porcelain is composed of kaolin, quartz and the mineral feldspar and then it is fired at very high temperatures. This makes the material rock hard, slightly translucent and non-porous.
Design series STYLO
STYLO has a modern, timeless and ergonomic design. STYLO is a contemporary, sleek and chic design with a classic twist. It is one of Muhle's most extensive guy lines. An important feature of the handles are the conical and tapered lines. The handle of the shaving brushes is slightly narrower at the bottom than at the top. The handle of the razors is also narrow and pointed at the bottom and slightly thicker at the top of the blade part. The handle has a narrow ring of chrome-plated metal at the top and bottom. Between these rings is the basic material: black or butterscotch yellow plastic resin, processed beech wood and thuja wood.
The basic material of Muhle STYLO
The STYLO razors and shaving brushes made of chrome-plated metal and black plastic resin are very popular. The impeccably shiny metal and plastic resin give these shaving items a nice, sleek, modern look.
Beech wood has a sandy yellow to light brown color with a very fine grain. The natural grain of the beech wood is accentuated by hammering the wood. The beech wood is impregnated with resin. This makes it water resistant.
The beautiful thuja wood comes from the root of the Red Cedar. Thuja wood has a brown flaming color with an irregular grain structure. The wood is processed and 100% water resistant.
CLASSIC design series
The CLASSIC range consists of various shaving brushes made of silvertip badger hair or Silvertip Fiber® (synthetic hair). These shaving brushes all have a recognisably traditional design. The range consists of shaving brushes of different sizes and materials (plastic resin and olive wood):
- Small: 3.4 x 9.3 cm
- Medium: 3.5 x 9.7 cm
- Large: 3.5 x 10.2 cm
Silverpoint or silvertip badger hair is the most beautiful and finest quality badger hair. It is super soft and supple hair; coming from the back/neck part of the tie. These hairs have a light gray to silvery shiny color with a horizontal, even black band halfway down.
Only the best, carefully selected badger hair is used for these handmade shaving brushes. The fine, conically tapered bristles have the ability to retain a large amount of water and produce a dense, creamy lather.
Silvertip Fibre® synthetic hair has virtually the same resistance, elasticity and softness as silvertip badger hair. Are you vegan or do you have a strong objection to a shaving brush made of animal hair? Then the Silvertip Fiber® brush is an excellent alternative. These shaving brushes also produce a nice full shaving foam.
Design series VIVO
The VIVO series has a classic, simple design. The handle of these shaving items have a slightly convex shape. At the bottom it has a sturdy chrome-plated round base with a wide groove. This groove fits perfectly into the suspension eye of the corresponding holder. Both the shaving brushes and razors hang upside down in the holder.
Similar to the RYTMO range, VIVO has both a holder without and with a small metal shaving bowl. This shaving bowl with an inner diameter of 6.5 cm fits exactly in the wide round base of the holder. The small shaving soaps from Mühle fit in these shaving bowls.

The handles in this range are also made of chrome-plated metal and plastic resin, in the following colors: black and horn brown.
The plum wood guy line is very popular. The wood of the plum tree has been used for centuries by woodworkers, turners and sculptors. It is widely used as the material for writing instruments, furniture and musical instruments. Plum wood has an intriguing color range from red to dark brown and a lively grain. An important sustainable advantage is that it is European native hardwood. To protect the wood against water, it is oiled. An additional advantage is that the wood gets a beautiful and soft shine.
Design series HEXAGON
Mühle developed the HEXAGON product range in collaboration with the famous Berlin designer Mark Braun. The result is fantastic and unique. HEXAGON is purely masculine, ergonomic and industrial design. A unique symbiosis of tradition, craftsmanship and modern contemporary design. The basic shapes of the handles correspond to the hexagonal profiles of nuts and bolts. It should come as no surprise that Mühle has won several product and design awards with this design series.
The basic materials are chrome-plated metal and anodized aluminum. The color choice is distinctive compared to the other product lines, namely: graphite, silver gray, forest green and bronze. They are calm earthy and matte-shiny shades.
The basic material of Muhle HEXAGON
This range consists of safety razors, shaving brushes made of silver pointed badger hair and synthetic hair, the accompanying chrome holder and porcelain shaving bowl.
Anodizing is a commonly used treatment method for aluminum. It is an electrochemical process to form an oxide layer on the material. This creates a hard, wear-resistant and protective layer on the aluminum. This gives you an exceptionally durable product. It is widely used within the construction sector to beautify and finish buildings. This oxide layer therefore has an important decorative value. Anodization makes it possible to give the aluminum various colors.
Design series COMPANION
COMPANION is the new innovative and patented shaving system from Mühle. This safety razor has been specially developed for a smooth and comfortable shave of facial and body hair.
