It's always fun to dig into your sales data from the past 10 years and analyze what is selling well and what isn't. We recently looked at which pre-shave creams or oils are selling well. We have put together a Top 5 of the best-selling pre-shave products. This concerns sales data from the period 2010 to 2020 of our NL webshop for the Netherlands and Belgium. Of course, we also took a look at the 2020 figures. And here we see exactly the same top 5.
What is a pre-shave?
We have said it before: 'A preshave product is not necessary, but can contribute to extra shaving comfort.' Good preparation in advance ultimately ensures less misery afterwards. Well, that is of course the case with many things in life. So that also applies to shaving. A preshave product provides extra protection while shaving. This means you have less chance of razor burn during and after shaving.
If you have dry skin and suffer from dry, chapped skin after shaving, you will benefit greatly from a good preshave oil. Or if you have heavy beard growth, a preshave will soften the beard hairs slightly.

What we see is that once customers buy this preshave oil they will always use it. It becomes part of the regular shaving ritual.
It is a thin oil and therefore you can easily apply and distribute it. The advantage is that it quickly penetrates the skin and does its job well. It actively protects and nourishes the skin. This preshave product has a light subtle citrus scent and contains avocado oil, jojoba oil, aloe vera extracts, wolverlei extracts and bergamot oil.
4. Bluebeards Revenge pre shave oil
The pre-shave oil from the English brand Bluebeards Revenge is a thick, lobed oil. This provides a nice slick layer and extra protection while shaving.
