This robust safety razor has an angled shaving head. This causes the shaving head to make a more cutting shaving motion. This razor is more suitable for the experienced safety razor shaver. Classic razor or scraper with extra long handle (9.5 cm). Suitable for normal to heavy beard growth.
Many men prefer to shave with this razor. It shaves better, prevents ingrown hairs and the razor blades are cheaper than the modern expensive Gillette razor blades.
What should you pay attention to when purchasing a safety razor?
Safety razors with closed combs are the most common razors. Suitable for the novice shaver and shaving light to normal beard growth. Also suitable for sensitive skin. Razors with an open comb provide a more direct or 'aggressive' shave. These are suitable for the experienced shaver and shaving normal to heavy (stiff beard hairs) beard growth. The razor with a butterfly closure has a light shaving head and is suitable for light beard growth. With the safety razor with an adjustable shaving head, the cutting angle of the double edge razor blade and the 'gap' (= opening of the shaving head) can be adjusted. Usage
First lather the beard hairs thoroughly, hold the razor at an angle of approximately 30 degrees to the skin, press the blade lightly on the skin and shave with the beard hairs. At the neck area, pull the skin taut with the other hand.

The purchase was tested today and should certainly not be labeled as a bad buy, on the contrary. What are the findings, if I compare the 2 Merkur scrapers (yes that is what we call it in Flanders) 38c and 39C? Well after 2 years of intensive testing the 38C, I can say that in the meantime I have become so skilled in this safety shaving knife, that all stubble are for the trouble after a calm shave. I did have to learn to shave well and the 38C is ideal for getting this skill. In the beginning you are not so well aware that certain zones such as the upper lip the chin and the jaw lines deserve more attention. The hairs are often in other directions and for that you have to let yourself 'work'. For me, however, that is 'enjoy' and not work. I work with this scraper earlier in diagonal lines as a straightforward and this applies to both shaving to the bottom and for shaving. Also from left to right for the difficult zones do wonders. In addition to the shaving book, which I studied from the bottom to the top, your playful videos, at least as valuable. The 39C has a larger German because of its construction (and it all looks very German, so solid out just like the 38C variant) Cut the 38C then the 38c. Today I received my Merkur 39c Slant and tried it out immediately. This went fantastic. Shavers smoothly and delicious. A slant has something special compared to other Safety Razors. Is certainly not aggressive but very efficient. Every possible stubble is gone and without irritations or injuries. I am very satisfied. It is a pity that I did not know this before.
