Muhle's shaving culture is traditional and innovative craftsmanship
Muhle was founded shortly after World War II in 1945 by Otto Johannes Müller in the German town of Stützengrün. Otto started producing shaving brushes and razors at the proverbial kitchen table. Now the third generation of Müllers leads one of the market leaders in luxury shaving products. The range consists of various product lines. All ranges include safety razors, razor holders for Gillette Mach3 and Fusion razors, shaving brushes, complete shaving sets and the corresponding shaving bowls and holders.
Design range PURIST
The design of the Purist range is classic and elegant. Characteristic are the shallow and sober round shapes and broadly shaped necks of the handles of the shaving brushes and razors. The shaving gear feels robust in the hand.
The base material of Muhle PURIST
Many shaving products are made of chrome-plated metal. Chrome has a brilliant seductive shine. Pure luxury in the bathroom. It is corrosion-resistant and very durable. The colors and shapes of other high-quality materials come fully into their own through chrome.
High-quality plastic resin is a durable and hard plastic. It is extremely suitable for exclusive bathroom items. The handles of razors and shaving brushes are turned from solid round rods. Then each individual handle is polished in multiple stages to give the surface its special luxurious shine. This keeps the handles beautiful for years.
The precious and brilliant Masur birch wood is widely used for decorative purposes. The wood has a light sandy yellow color with a beautiful fine and irregular grain. The Masur birch is common in Finland. Through special treatments and coating, the wood becomes water-repellent and wear-resistant.
Bruyère wood is widely used for tobacco pipes. The wood comes from the Erica arborea tree from the Mediterranean region. The wood is first boiled. Only then is it suitable for processing. This also gives it its beautiful reddish to brown color. The best wood is selected, shaped, hand-colored, then waxed and finally polished.
Design range KOSMO
The KOSMO shaving products have a modern sleek, contemporary, and elegant design. The sober shaving products are made from chrome-plated metal, plastic resin, Olive wood, and Bog wood.
The base material of Muhle KOSMO
Olive wood is valued for its excellent durable material properties and warm colors. It is found throughout the Mediterranean region. The wood has a light honey-yellow color with light brown parallel grain lines. The wood is first carefully dried for months before the handles are turned. Then the handles are smoothly sanded, impregnated with oil, and super smoothly polished to a silky finish. This brings out the grain of the wood particularly well.
Bog oak or swamp oak is special and rare. This material comes from wood that has lain in swamps for centuries and has undergone various transformation processes. This naturally preserves the wood. The tannins in the peat create an expressive dark color. The color of the wood varies between brown, dark brown, and black brown. It has a very fine dense grain structure.
Square beams are sawn from the few usable trunk parts. Then the handles are turned and polished with various fine oils. This gives the material a silky matte finish.
RYTMO design range
The RYTMO series has a striking, unique, and timeless design. The handles have a slightly conical shape with a distinctive and robust chrome-plated base. All razors and shaving brushes hang "upside down" on this base in the corresponding holder. The fit of the holder's eyes ensures that the shaving tools hang perfectly in the holder. The base materials are plastic resin, chrome-plated metal, and ash wood.
The base material of Muhle RYTMO
It is, alongside beech and oak, one of the most important European hardwood species. It mainly grows in northern regions. The ash wood is first briefly heated to a very high temperature. This makes it water-resistant, accentuates the grain, and gives the wood its brown color. Afterwards, the surface is treated with oil. This perfectly protects the wood against water and makes it last a very long time.
The RYTMO range also includes shaving tools made of chrome-plated metal and plastic resin. Due to the shiny black plastic, these shaving brushes and razors have a modern, sleek, and luxurious appearance.
ROCCA design range
The design of the ROCCA series is simple, robust, and particularly masculine. It is one of Muhle's most striking ranges. It is modern and contemporary design: a feast for the eyes. The weight and texture of the materials provide a comfortable grip during use. ROCCA means castle or fortress in Italian.
Very striking is the honeycomb-like structure in the stainless steel (rustproof steel) and black plastic of the handles. Important features are the beautiful line and grain structures of the birch bark wood. Due to this honeycomb-like structure and the birch bark wood, the material feels very pleasant in the hand. You have optimal grip while shaving.
Basic material of Muhle ROCCA
The birch bark wood has dark sandy yellow and light brown color accents. The wood has a very fine horizontal line and grain structure. It feels warm and comfortable. Of course, the material is treated to be water-resistant and easy to maintain.
The great advantage of stainless steel is that it does not rust. The material is lightly matte finished. This gives it a beautiful light matte shine. The metal also feels soft and comfortable in the hand. The combination of the matte metal, plastic, or birch bark wood creates an elegant and intriguing effect.
Design range TRADITIONAL
The safety razors of the TRADITIONAL series are now sold worldwide. Many men stand with their R89 safety razor in hand in front of the mirror early in the morning. These razors have either an open comb or closed comb. All double edge blades fit in these razors. Due to the comb structure of the open comb razor head and the special angle of the double edge blade, this razor shaves very directly and efficiently. The safety razor with the closed comb is milder. It provides a perfectly smooth and very comfortable shave. The closed comb is slightly more popular than the open comb. The open comb is very popular among the more experienced wet shaver with coarse or heavy beard growth.
The chrome-plated metal handles of these razors and the matching shaving brushes have a unique fine herringbone-like structure. This gives you optimal grip while shaving.
The total length of the razor is 9.4 cm and the weight is approximately 70 g. The razor heads consist of 2 parts and are screwed onto the handle. The R89 GRANDE has a slightly longer and more robust handle. The R89 TWIST has a different razor head. In this razor, the lower half of the razor head is welded to the handle. The upper half is screwed on. Using a metal knob at the bottom of the handle, you can easily unscrew and screw the razor head.
The handle of the shaving brushes has a traditional simple round design. The design, chrome-plated metal, and grip exactly match the handle of the razors. You can hang the shaving tools in various matching holders.

The handles are made of chrome-plated metal and synthetic resin. Notable is the so-called Rose Gold chrome. Rose Gold has a gold-pink matte metallic shine.
Design series SOPHIST
SOPHIST is characterful, elegant and classic. The design symbolizes the traditional shaving culture. It is a harmonious combination of classic shapes and top quality. The handles have solid round or convex shapes. The shaving brushes have a round sturdy flat "foot" of chrome-plated metal at the bottom. The razors have a small "foot" at the bottom and an elegant "neck" at the top. The shaving brush hangs "upside down" by the foot in the holder. The razors hang by the "neck" in the eye of the holder.
The base material of Muhle SOPHIST
Besides the commonly used chrome and synthetic resin, the handles of this line contain ironwood and porcelain. Ironwood is one of the hardest types of wood in the world. The extremely high density makes it very water resistant. The dark brown color combined with the fine grain gives a silky smooth and shiny appearance. Due to the variations in color and grain of the wood, each handle is a unique piece of artisanal craftsmanship.
Cattle or Buffalo horn has been used since ancient times to make utilitarian or decorative objects. The natural material is selected and processed with great care and precision. Only solid horn tips are used for the handles of shaving brushes and razors. The raw material is gradually turned into the correct shape. It is then smoothly sanded and polished to a high gloss. The horn has a soft flame-like color variation from light to dark brown. Each product has its own unique character.
Porcelain was invented a very long time ago in the ancient Chinese empire. It was only produced in Europe in 1708. Every porcelain object is handmade and then glazed and fired. Porcelain is composed of kaolin, quartz and the mineral feldspar and then fired at very high temperatures. This makes the material very hard, slightly translucent and non-porous.
Design series STYLO
STYLO is modern, timeless and ergonomic design. STYLO is contemporary sleek and chic styling with a classic twist. It is one of the most extensive shaving lines from Muhle. An important feature of the handles are the conical and tapering lines. The handle of the shaving brushes is slightly narrower at the bottom than at the top. The handle of the razors is also narrow and pointed at the bottom and slightly thicker at the top near the blade. Both at the bottom and top, the handle has a narrow ring of chrome-plated metal. Between these rings is the base material: black or butterscotch yellow synthetic resin, treated beech wood and thuja wood.
The base material of Mühle STYLO
Very popular are the STYLO razors and shaving brushes made of chrome-plated metal and black plastic resin. Due to the impeccably shiny metal and plastic resin, these shaving items have a beautiful sleek modern appearance.
Beech wood has a sandy yellow to light brown color with a very fine grain. The natural grain of the beech wood is accentuated by hammering the wood. The beech wood is impregnated with resin. This makes it water-resistant.
The magnificent thuja wood comes from the root of the Red Cedar. Thuja wood has a brown flaming color with an irregular grain structure. The wood is treated and 100% water-resistant.
CLASSIC design series
The CLASSIC range consists of various shaving brushes made of silver-tipped badger hair or Silvertip Fibre® (synthetic hairs). These shaving brushes all have a recognizable traditional design. The assortment consists of shaving brushes of different sizes and materials (plastic resin and olive wood):

- Large: 3.5 x 10.2 cm
Silver-tipped or silvertip badger hair is the most beautiful and finest quality badger hair. It is super soft and supple hair; sourced from the back/neck area of the badger. These hairs have a light gray to silvery shiny color with a horizontal even black band halfway.
Only the best, carefully selected badger hair is used for these handmade shaving brushes. The fine, conically tapering hairs have the ability to hold a large amount of water and produce a dense, creamy foam.
Silvertip Fibre® synthetic hairs have practically the same resistance, elasticity, and softness as silver-tipped badger hair. Are you vegan or do you have objections to a shaving brush made of animal hair? Then the Silvertip Fibre® brush is an excellent alternative. These shaving brushes also produce a nice full shaving foam.
VIVO design series
The VIVO series features a classic sober design. The handle of these shaving items has a slightly rounded shape. At the bottom, it has a sturdy chrome-plated round base with a wide groove. This groove fits perfectly into the hanging eye of the corresponding holder. Both the shaving brushes and razors hang on their "head" in the holder.
Similar to the RYTMO range, VIVO offers both a holder without and with a small metal shaving bowl. This shaving bowl with an inner diameter of 6.5 cm fits perfectly into the wide round base of the holder. The small shaving soaps from Mühle fit into these shaving bowls.

Also in this range, the handles are made of chrome-plated metal and synthetic resin, in the following colors: black and horn brown.
The plum wood shaving line is very popular. The wood of the plum tree has been used for centuries by woodworkers, turners, and sculptors. It is widely used as the material for writing instruments, furniture, and musical instruments. Plum wood has an intriguing color variation from red to dark brown and a lively grain. An important sustainable advantage is that it is European native hardwood. To protect the wood against water, it is oiled. An additional advantage is that the wood gets a beautiful and soft shine.
HEXAGON design series
The HEXAGON product range was developed by Mühle in collaboration with the famous Berlin designer Mark Braun. The result is fantastic and unique. HEXAGON is purely masculine, ergonomic, and industrial design. A unique symbiosis of tradition, craftsmanship, and modern contemporary design. The basic shapes of the handles correspond to the hexagonal profiles of bolts and nuts. It is no surprise that Mühle has won various product and design awards with this design series.
The base materials are chrome-plated metal and anodized aluminum. The color choice is distinctive compared to the other product lines, namely: graphite, silver gray, forest green, and bronze. They are calm, earthy, and matte shades.
The base material of Muhle HEXAGON
This range consists of safety razors, shaving brushes made of silver-tip badger hair and synthetic hairs, the corresponding chrome holder, and porcelain shaving bowl.
Anodizing is a widely used treatment method for aluminum. It is an electrochemical process to form an oxide layer on the material. This creates a hard, wear-resistant, and protective layer on the aluminum. As a result, you get an exceptionally durable product. It is widely used in the construction sector to beautify and finish buildings. This oxide layer also has an important decorative value. Anodizing makes it possible to give aluminum various colors.
COMPANION design series
COMPANION is the new innovative and patented shaving system from Mühle. This safety razor is specially developed for smooth and comfortable shaving of facial and body hair.
