We have once again been digging into our sales database. This time we looked at what the most popular after shave balms are. The list below of this Top-5 is based on sales data from the period 2018 through 2020 from our NL webshop for the Netherlands and Belgium.
Why should you use an after shave balm?
A good balm soothes the skin and repairs it a little. A balm absorbs into the skin, nourishes it, and makes it feel comfortable. If you suffer from dry skin after shaving, it is pleasant to use a balm. In winter, we deal with cold dry air. If you work a lot outside, you may be more prone to dry skin. After shaving, you then have dry, chapped skin and an unpleasant tight feeling. A little balm prevents this.
Unlike an old-fashioned after shave splash, a balm contains no alcohol. A balm contains various nourishing, skin-repairing, and moisturizing ingredients, such as: Argan oil, Allantoin, Aloe Vera extracts, Jojoba oil, and calendula. Many balms are lightly fragranced. Some after shave products are almost neutral to fragrance-free.
Many of our customers swear by an after shave balm because it feels pleasant and comfortable after shaving. For many men, it is a standard part of wet shaving. Because the emulsion is well absorbed by the skin, it often does not feel greasy. Finally, if the balm's scent matches the shaving soap, shaving becomes a "little party" in the morning.

The reason to develop the Baume.be after shave balm was very understandable. The Belgian Karl Indigne has very sensitive skin. His skin is highly allergic to various ingredients in after shave products. When his favorite aftershave balm was no longer sold 10 years ago, he started developing a balm himself. Once you have used the sandalwood shaving cream and after shave balm from this beautiful classic English shaving brand, you won't want to use anything else. The sandalwood fragrance line from Truefitt and Hill is immensely popular. Although this balm is quite expensive compared to the previous products, it is a very popular balm.
The sandalwood scent of Truefitt and Hill sandalwood after shave balm is warm and fresh at the same time. It is a recognizable classic men's fragrance with base notes of sandalwood, tonka, and cedarwood, combined with lavender, thyme, and jasmine. The top notes are subtle fruity notes of pineapple, melon, lemon, and bergamot.
