If you have sensitive skin, use an unscented shaving product
We regularly speak to customers who suffer a lot from annoying and persistent shaving irritation. Usually, they have sensitive or dry skin and experience irritation after shaving. You might think of a dry, tight, and rough skin or red, burning spots. As we have mentioned before, you can reduce or prevent a lot of irritation by changing your shaving technique, switching to a safety razor, and/or using an unscented shaving product. Many skin irritations are caused by the added fragrance or perfume components in shaving foam, shaving soap, and aftershave balm. Well, we do love scents, and that’s why manufacturers include fragrance components in their care products. But if you suffer a lot from shaving irritation, our advice is: 'The duller, the better'.
Since it is always uncertain what exactly causes your shaving irritation, it is best to start with an unscented to neutral shaving product. If after a few weeks of use you notice that the irritations are lessening or have completely disappeared, you can always switch to a similar shaving product with a scent.
Of course, it is always your own choice, but it doesn’t help if you are smooth and smell nice after shaving but then spend the whole day dealing with skin irritations.
