Classic safety razor with a handy shaving head and twist mechanism for super easy replacement of double edge razor blades. The razor has a closed comb.
Due to the twist mechanism, the top half of the shaving head comes loose. This allows a new razor blade to be safely and easily inserted. Many men prefer to shave with this razor. It shaves more pleasantly, prevents ingrown hairs and the razor blades are many times cheaper than modern razor blades.
What should you pay attention to when purchasing a safety razor?
Safety razors with a closed comb are the most common razors. Suitable for the beginner shaver and shaving light to normal beard growth. Also suitable for sensitive skin. Razors with an open comb shave a bit more directly or 'aggressively'. These are suitable for the experienced shaver and shaving normal to heavy (coarse beard hairs) beard growth. The razor with a butterfly closure has a light shaving head and is suitable for light beard growth. After a few years of use of interchangeable blades (HEMA 6 Blades) Shaving with the Mühle R89 Twist since 6 months. That twist has a handy rotary knob that, in addition to the guidance, connects the 2 parts and gives the knife sufficient curvature to shave without any problems, even for a beginner. The knife feels solid and weighs a little more because of the longer handle and button. The convex head accurately follows the jaw and the blade hardly sticks out. Little can go wrong with this. The Mühle knife is sufficiently sharp and similar to a knife from the Hema, your **** with ease with it for a week. Cleaning every day with the toothbrush and hand soap, loosening a **** and rinse. After years of shaving with interchangeable blades (HEMA 6 Blades), now 6 months with this De Muhle R89 Twist model. The stem is a bit longer: and therefore more weight and more support, you will feel that immediately if you have used a small knife for that. The bulb round head always follows the contours of your jaw and the knife does not stand out. At the end there is a thickened rotary knob so you have more hold if you keep the knife upside down. Your **** actually not to hurt you after a few days of practicing. This knife consists of 2 parts, you span the knife on and you release again with the rotary knob. The system is made solid and your **** easy to clean the holder with a toothbrush and some hand soap, after each shave. Turn something loose and spread it on your hand and blow through and dry it from the side. For comparison I bought a second knife: a böker, butterfly closure. That was a completely different story. After years of shaving with Gillette Cartridge razor and then Cien from Lidl, I switched to the traditional Safety Razor razor, the Muhle R89 Twist. I was surprised by the relatively heavy weight. Did I make the right choice? It took some getting used to in the beginning. It is nice in the hand, good hold through the ridges, looks nice, and shaves particularly smoothly compared to the aforementioned razors. Afterwards happy with the good choice I made. It is certainly recommended.
Razor fits well in the hand and is nice and heavy in the head, so it 'falls' well on the skin and does its job well. Not aggressive but slides smoothly.
